EDIT – I reinserted the drive into a different USB port and it seems to be working. Maybe it’s on my end, or maybe it’s just fickle like the guy on NewEgg said.

I purchased a PNY 4GB Attache Optima Pro USB drive to be used with ReadyBoost.

In bold white text, the box says “Enhanced for Windows ReadyBoost.” Unfortunately, Windows Vista Ultimate 64 thinks the opposite: “This device does not have the required performance characteristics for use in speeding up your system.” On NewEgg (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820178198), people are having the same problems as me.

Occasionally, Ready Boost will refuse to work with this drive. Also, sometimes my two PCs won’t recognize this drive. Typically, reinserting it will solve the problem but occasionally a reboot is needed. I had to return my first one because the file system somehow became corrupted.

I can’t do anything to get it to work. Reformatting, re-inserting, “Test Again”, whatever. It’s going back tomorrow.

PNY, I’m sorry but you lost my business.
